What are we hunting at Cooperative? One of our core values we embody in our effort to fulfill Cooperative’s mission is “Productive” – the ability and desire to achieve significant results by diligently pursuing ways to be more efficient and effective. Proverbs 12:27 (New Int’l Version) says “The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.” or as the New Living Translation says “Lazy people don’t even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find.”
Hopefully we all get that we aren’t supposed to be “lazy” when approaching are job tasks, but how diligent are we at doing all we can, using all available resources, to be more productive? Not saying more busy. Busy-ness does not equal productivity. Do we do an easier task to get it done or dive into more challenging tasks that are of a higher priority? Do we do what we always have done or are we open to new ideas and methods? Sometimes old ways are still the good ways, sometimes they are not. Do we plan, schedule, and evaluate what we are doing? Do we allow criticism (of the constructive type mind you) to improve our processes? Perhaps questions to ask when working through our days.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one who has not always taken the more productive route. Let’s be productive. Let’s all go hunting. I’d hate for us to go hungry when there’s a feast sitting in front of us. I know I like to eat.
