Our telemonitor is reasonably sized for ease of use.Yes, we offer home health telemonitoring!  Our new customers don’t always understand the “ins and outs” of this great resource, so here’s our guide to telemonitoring:

What is home health telemonitoring? It is a convenient way for your doctor to track key measures that indicate your specific health status.  In other words, our telemonitoring machine measures specific vital signs like weight and blood pressure and transmits this information directly to your doctor.  A change in your readings will alert the doctor and he/she can respond quickly according to what your readings tell them.  This early intervention prevents many diseases including congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and/or emphysema from causing unnecessary hospitalizations.  Or imagine someone with worsening symptoms who can assist their doctor to accurately diagnose them by recording their vital signs when their symptoms occur (in the comfort and convenience of their own home).

Compare that with this scenario of a 70 year-old man who doesn’t use a telemonitoring service.  He doesn’t check his vital signs daily, so he doesn’t detect there is a problem until he begins to feel badly.  He schedules an appointment to see his doctor, but by the time of his appointment his symptoms are much worse, or he may require hospitalization before his appointment date arrives.

How do I arrange telemonitoring?  Call 1-800-HOMECARE (in MO) and our Intake Nurse Jessica will help you.  We’ll assess you and contact your doctor for this prescription.  We’ll deliver your machine directly to you (it’s about the size of a small briefcase) and explain how it works.  The machine is able to “talk” you through every step of your measurements.

How do I pay for telemonitoring?  Medicare pays for all or most telemonitoring costs if you have a qualifying disease.  If you are unsure if you qualify, call 1-800-HOMECARE (in MO) and our Intake Nurse Jessica will tell you if you are eligible for telemonitoring, and how much (if any) you pay out-of-pocket for this service.  If you aren’t eligible through Medicare but would like this service, it is $300 per month.
