Shhh! And now, without further adieu, a Thanksgiving message from Owner Mitch Waks:

Some Food For Thought –  The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts.  No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving. If these pioneers could find something to be thankful for, then I believe we can all find many things to be thankful for. I am Thankful for you all on this Thanksgiving.

More Food For Thought: The funny thing about Thanksgiving, or any huge meal, is that you spend 12 hours shopping for it and then chopping and cooking and braising and blanching.  Then it takes 20 minutes to eat it and everybody sort of sits around in a food coma, and then it takes four hours to clean it up. Also, note that halftime in Thursday’s football game also will last exactly 20 minutes. Coincidence? I think not.

The poem below, written by an elegant and simply beautiful writer, an American treasure of a man – who was the author and face of the transcendentalist movement, says so much with so little. Enjoy this Thanksgiving prayer. And if you haven’t read his essays, start with Nature, Self Reliance or The American Scholar.

For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, For love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends.

–Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
